Joe Donald Moses (born August 14, 1987) is an American actor, singer, writer, stunt coordinator, fight choreographer, director, producer and performer based in Los Angeles. He is best known for his work with American musical theater company Team StarKid.
Early Life and Education[]
In 2005, Joe attended the University of Michigan. He graduated in 2009 with a BFA in Drama/Theatre Arts and Stagecraft. He returned to UoM in 2016 and graduated in 2018 with a Doctor of Law.
Work[]
Joe has featured in a wide range of TV series. He featured in Star Trek Into Darkness alongside appearing as Powers Furberg in Buffering and Trevor in Inappropriate Parents. He has also featured in the short films Let Go and Clowns on Earth.
He also developed a popular web series named The Potion Masters Corner where he reprised his StarKid role of Severus Snape and interviewed members of Team StarKid. Alongside this, Joe developed a one man show called The Joe Moses One-Man Showses. The show received generally good critical acclaim and was featured in The New York Times.
Joe has since retired from acting and now works as a lawyer.
StarKid Productions[]
Joe met the members of what is now StarKid while collaborating on plays through Basement Arts, the university's student-run theatre organization. In 2009, Joe featured as Severus Snape in A Very Potter Musical. The show sold out its four performances at UMich. A recorded version of the show that was posted on YouTube for family members to watch went viral. In response to the musicals popularity StarKid Productions was formed with Joe as one of it's founding members.
Joe went on to reprise his role as Snape in both A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year alongside appearing as Nearly Headless Nick. Joe has since gone on to appear in three more StarKid musicals as well as featuring in A Very StarKid Reunion and StarKid Homecoming. Alongside appearing in productions, Joe served as fight choreographer for both Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier and A Very Potter Sequel.
Personal Life[]
Joe currently resides in Los Angeles alongside his wife Tessa Netting. The two got engaged in April 2019 and were married in March 2022.
