Harry James Potter is the main character of A Very Potter Musical, A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year. He is portrayed by Darren Criss.

He was the original owner of Ron's iconic blue headband, which he gave to Ron after he discovered that his scar was honored in the wizarding world (in A Very Potter Sequel). Unlike the Harry Potter in the original books, he first heard about Hogwarts from a letter, and not Hagrid, who appears only in A Very Potter Senior Year. He runs away from his aunt, uncle, and cousin, arriving at the train station, and after asking a man working there about how to get to platform 9 and 3/4 who tells him it doesn't exist and starts to lose hope, he then learns that Hogwarts does in fact exist with help from Ron and his family when they arrived at the station.

A Very Potter Musical[]

A Very Potter Musical opens with Harry lamenting his life with the Dursleys, excited to return to Hogwarts for his second year (Gotta Get Back to Hogwarts). He meets with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger to get school supplies in Dragon Alley. This is where he first meets Ginny Weasley, Ron’s younger sister, who immediately begins obsessing over Harry upon learning of his identity. They also see Cho Chang, the girl that Harry has had a crush on since his first year, as well as her boyfriend, Cedric Diggory. They then come across Crabbe and Goyle bullying Neville Longbottom, Harry standing up to them and Draco Malfoy.

At the Grand Feast, Potions professor Severus Snape is introduced, immediately giving Harry a detention for talking out of turn, and mentioning that a person can be a horcrux but not elaborating as Harry will “find out soon enough”. Professor Quirrell is also introduced, Harry’s scar hurting when Quirrell’s back is toward him.

Harry is chosen as Gryffindor’s champion for the House Cup tournament. He and Ron are confident in his victory, despite Hermione’s concern that the tournament is suspicious and potentially deadly. Draco attempts to intimidate Harry by bragging that he will be transferring to a prestigious wizarding academy on Mars called Pigfarts, but Hermione threatens him and forces him to back off.

Hermione, concerned with the danger of the tournament, urges Harry to prepare. She is already working on his Potions assignment, but Harry asks her to prepare for him, going back to working on a love song he is writing. Harry sings the song to Ginny, using her name in it (Ginny's Song), unintentionally feeding her infatuation and subsequently devastating her when he reveals that the song is for Cho and he sees Cho as far more attractive than any girl in his group.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione, using the invisibility cloak left for him by his deceased father,  investigate what the first round of the House Cup Tournament could entail. They overhear a conversation between Albus Dumbledore and Snape, learning that the first task will involve dragons.

On the day of the first task, Harry is woefully underprepared, his major concern being the loss of his lunch period, not having read the notes Hermione prepared for him, and forgetting to bring his wand. Cedric and Cho, the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw champions, fawn over each other, disgusting Harry. When drawing which dragon each champion will fight, Draco, the Slytherin champion, draws the cartoonish Reluctant Dragon, and Harry draws the terrifying Hungarian Horntail. Harry attempts to trade with Draco, with additional snacks to sweeten the deal, but is unwilling to part with his pack of Bugles, so he is stuck as is. With no other choice, Harry summons his guitar and sings the dragon to sleep, allowing him to move on to the next round of the competition (The Dragon Song).

Later, Ginny attempts to ask Harry to go with her to the Yule Ball and gives him a wreath, but Harry misunderstands her and thanks her for giving him a wreath so that he can use it to ask Cho to the ball. He serenades her (Cho’s Song), but she rejects him, as she is already going to the ball with Cedric. Despondent, Harry and Ron discuss their limited options for ball dates, but establish that Hermione and Ginny are terrible picks.

At the Yule Ball, Ron begins being more rude than usual towards Hermione as a result of his developing feelings for her, and Harry defends her, suggesting Ron apologise to her. While lecturing Ron about how he should accept his feelings for Hermione, Harry begins to develop a crush on Ginny, taking his own advice and asking Ginny to dance. They kiss, but Harry suddenly has second thoughts, stating that they cannot be together because of his friendship with Ron. Ginny leaves in tears and a flustered Harry attempts to regain his dignity by dancing with Cho, causing him to get into a fight with Cedric. As Harry grabs for a weapon, he touches the ladle that Quirrel had planted earlier as a portkey, teleporting both Cedric and himself to a mysterious graveyard.

Harry continues to argue with Cedric, up until Cedric is killed by Voldemort. Quirrel binds Harry and reveals Voldemort. Harry’s blood is then used in the ritual to revive Voldemort, receiving a detention from Snape in the process for struggling. Voldemort casts the Imperius Curse on Harry and forces him to dance (To Dance Again). Before Voldemort can kill Harry, Harry uses the ladle to escape back to Hogwarts, where he announces Voldemort's return.

Harry’s stress quickly rises as news of Voldemort’s return and their inevitable battle spreads, upsetting Ron in his lack of attention toward’s Ron’s distressing crush on Hermione. Hermione asks him about Ron, but Harry dismisses her and begins to talk about Voldemort, upsetting Hermione as well with his sass. Harry defends himself, saying he has a right to be stressed out, but Hermione counters that she was the one who stressed out about the dragon task while Harry just played his guitar, and he has already defeated Voldemort once, as a baby. Ginny attempts to clarify her relationship with Harry, but he explains that as long as Voldemort is at large, they cannot be together. As Ginny runs off in tears once more, a disguised Dumbledore summons Harry to his office to discuss Voldemort, while dismissing Harry’s claims that Snape is a Death Eater.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione arrive at Dumbledore’s office, taking note of a Zac Efron poster and sparking argument over who amongst them is his biggest fan. Dumbledore then explains that horcruxes have been what kept Voldemort’s soul alive, and he has already destroyed five of the six. He gives Harry a horcrux-seeking medallion and the sword of Godric Gryffindor, one of the four founders of Hogwarts, and tasks him with finding and destroying the last horcrux. Death Eaters suddenly break into the office, and although they are able to hide initially, they give themselves away by Harry being unable to resist professing his love of Zac Efron, forcing Dumbledore to reveal himself to protect them. Dumbledore is killed by Snape, and fearing for his friends’ lives, Harry declares that he must fight Voldemort alone. Harry laments Dumbledore’s death (Missing You).

As Death Eaters surround Hogwarts, Ginny finds Harry alone, feeling powerless, but she, Ron, and Hermione reassure him that they are there for him (Not Alone). They are joined by Malfoy, who they reluctantly allow to help them get the last horcrux from within Dumbledore’s office. The last horcrux, the Zac Efron poster,  attempts to turn Ron against Harry by taking the form of Hermione and taking advantage of his feelings of inferiority in comparison to Harry, but Ron pushes through and destroys it. Ron tells Harry that even if what the horcrux had said was true, it wouldn’t matter, because Harry is his best friend.

Death Eaters storm the office, led by Bellatrix, with Ginny and Hermione as hostages. Snape reveals himself as a double agent and disarms the other Death Eaters but is wounded, and Molly Weasley, Ron and Ginny’s mother, kills Bellatrix.  With his dying breath, Snape reveals that Harry became a seventh horcrux on the night of his parents' death. Now at Hogwarts, Voldemort demands that Harry be turned over to him in exchange for their lives. Harry, knowing that the only way Voldemort can be killed is if all horcruxes are destroyed, decides that he must give himself over. Voldemort taunts him, telling him that his parents were weak and deserved to die, and he kills Harry.

Somewhere between their world and the next, Harry meets Dumbledore. Dumbledore explains that Harry survived as a baby because he was shielded by his mother’s love, and this time, Harry will survive because Voldemort unintentionally killed the horcrux within Harry. He sends Harry to return to fight once more, this time both Harry and Voldemort being mortal.

Ron and Hermione rally the remaining students of Hogwarts, urging them to fight with the courage that Harry would’ve (Voldemort is Going Down), resolve further bolstered at Harry’s return.  Voldemort breaks through the students' barricade and is shocked to find that Harry is still alive. Voldemort taunts him, asking who he will use as a human shield, to which Ron attempts to volunteer himself before he is pulled back. Harry reveals that by sacrificing himself for his friends, much like his mother did for him, through his love, he has made them immune to Voldemort’s magic. Voldemort casts the Killing Curse at him, but Harry reflects it, killing Voldemort. Harry and Ginny make out in celebration, with Ron’s blessing. Neville, having found Dumbledore’s will, announces that he has left Hogwarts to Harry (Not Alone (Reprise)).

A Very Potter Sequel[]

Harry Potter shows up at King's Cross station for his first year at Hogwarts and cannot seem to find Platform 9¾. He then meets the Weasleys, who help him find the way. In the midst of this, Harry meets Ron Weasley and the two quickly become the best of friends. Ron and the others at Platform 9¾ discover who Harry is and begin to treat him like a celebrity. Harry asks Ron why they are acting this way toward him, and Ron tells Harry that he is "The Boy Who Lived," as he survived the Killing Curse and defeated Voldemort as a child. Rita Skeeter also tells Harry about the murderer Sirius Black, who betrayed his parents and is now after his life (Harry Freakin' Potter).

On the Hogwarts Express, Harry and Ron meet Hermione Granger. Meanwhile, a Death Eater knocks out the candy lady and attempts to use the Killing Curse on Harry, but is disarmed by Remus Lupin, who is the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts. As the train arrives at Hogwarts, Lupin tells Harry not to go looking for trouble. At this point, Harry is introduced to Severus Snape, who instantly takes a disliking to Harry, but Lupin stands up for Harry and Snape flees. Lupin leaves Harry after mentioning that his parents spent the best years of their lives at Hogwarts, leading Harry to believe he has finally found a home (To Have a Home).

After Harry, Ron, and Hermione are sorted by the Scarf of Sexual Preference (or "Scarfy") into "Metrosexual", "Bi-curious", and "Waiting till marriage", respectively, and by the Sorting Hat (or "Sorty") into Gryffindor house together, they meet Slytherin Draco Malfoy, who wants to be Harry's friend very badly and tells his associates Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle to torture Ron and Hermione until he agrees. Snape escorts the boys to their dorm, and Dumbledore tells Harry he should be proud to be in Gryffindor like he and his parents were.

Harry and Ron go to try out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, but before they can begin practicing, Snape shows up and he and Lupin argue over which team has the field reserved for the day. Meanwhile, Draco approaches Harry to boast about a picture he drew of him. Hermione attempts to stand up for Harry, but the tables are turned on her as everyone makes fun of her for not being able to draw (Hermione Can't Draw).

The students of Hogwarts are taking a field trip to Hogsmeade, but Harry does not have a signed permission form, so Umbridge decides to harshly punish him. Fortunately for Harry, Neville Longbottom shows up to give Umbridge flowers from "Big D," which puts her in a much better mood. Harry is still not allowed to go, but he manages to escape Umbridge's wrath. Harry meets up with Lupin, who gives him the Marauder's Map so that he can go secretly to Hogsmeade without a permission slip, but advises him not to go to the Shrieking Shack.

The kids are swapping horrific stories about Sirius Black in Hogsmeade, which ends with Hermione being dared to go to the Shrieking Shack and draw a picture of the monster inside. When Harry arrives, he convinces Ron that they must go in to save her. They manage to find her, but are then attacked by a werewolf. Harry fends it off by throwing Hermione's cat Crookshanks at it as bait. The group flees into the Forbidden Forest, where they each discuss their flaws, but because they are at Hogwarts, those flaws do not matter. Harry and Ron finally accept Hermione as their friend. Suddenly, the werewolf returns, but Firenze arrives to save the trio and brings them back to Hogwarts.

Lucius (from the future), arrives to meet with Snape, stating he has a lot riding on the Quidditch match, and replaces the majority of the Slytherin team with Death Eaters in order to kill Harry.

The Quidditch match finally begins ("Let the Games Begin"). At half-time, Hedwig shows up with a package for Harry, but Lucius intercepts it. Hermione manages to get it back by cursing Lucius. Lupin scolds the Gryffindor team for their sloppy playing, but Hermione arrives to give Harry his package, which turns out to be just what he needs: a Firebolt broomstick. Draco accidentally interferes with the Death Eaters' attempt on Harry's life and Harry manages to catch the Golden Snitch, winning the game for Gryffindor.

Hermione prepares to leave Hogwarts for the holidays and gives Harry and Ron a scrapbook of their first semester at Hogwarts, including a newspaper clipping about Sirius Black that mentions Harry. Snape charges into the room screaming that Sirius Black has infiltrated Hogwarts. Harry becomes enraged after being reminded that Sirius was the man responsible for his parents' murder and decides to go find him using the Marauder's Map. The map leads Harry, Ron, and Hermione to a room containing a large mirror. As Harry approaches the mirror, he sees two mysterious figures in it. Sirius Black reveals himself and explains that it is the Mirror of Erised, which shows one's deepest desires. In the case of both Harry and Sirius, it shows Harry's parents. Sirius explains that he was framed for the murder of Harry's parents, so Harry and Sirius reconcile (Those Voices). Sirius then tells the trio that someone named "Little D" helped him escape from Azkaban prison and made his way to Hogwarts. Sirius also gives Harry his father's Cloak of Invisibility as well as telling him that it was he who sent the Firebolt. Hermione sees someone coming on the Marauder's Map, so Sirius tries to throw the Invisibility Cloak over the trio, but Harry ends up putting it on Sirius. Snape arrives and begins taking his anger out on Harry, forcing Sirius to reveal himself. After the two trade insults about how Harry's mother chose James over Snape, Dumbledore and Umbridge show up. Umbridge tries to take Harry, Ron, and Hermione to Azkaban for helping Sirius get into Hogwarts, but Dumbledore tells her that it was he who helped Sirius get in. As she corrals Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Sirius away, Snape looks in the Mirror of Erised and sees Lily.

Umbridge takes the position of Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, and introduces "Mama's Little Love Hand", which she threatens them with. She then asks Harry where Dumbledore is hiding, but Harry tells her that even if he did know he wouldn't tell her.

While most of the first years are ordered to clean the Owlery, Harry is asked to come to Umbridge's office alone. When Harry arrives, Lucius appears from the shadows and attacks him. Harry wakes up to find Lucius and the Death Eaters preparing to torture him and that Lucius and Umbridge have formed an alliance. Ron, Hermione, and Draco enter the room disguised as Death Eaters and manage to free Harry. Lucius grabs Draco, but Snape enters and saves them, allowing the children to escape.

Harry and company free Sirius, and Lupin returns to help. As the group prepares to head to the Ministry of Magic to turn Pettigrew in, Lupin sees the full moon and becomes a werewolf. As the kids tend to Sirius, Umbridge appears, determined to finally punish them. Dumbledore manages to get the kids out of danger, but tells them to stay put while he goes to search for help. Harry and the others feel all is hopeless, but Draco remembers that he has Lucius' Time Turner, which the group uses to travel back in time one hour. Harry meets up with the past Snape and inspires him to save Harry and his friends later on during the fight with Lucius. Ron is still discouraged by their chances for victory, but Harry boosts the group's morale by convincing them that there is a way (No Way). Harry and the others run into Lucius, but Draco stands up to him at last and recruits Yaxley to their side.

Harry and the others then arrive at the scene of Umbridge and her dementors just as Dumbledore disapparates with their past selves. They each use the Patronus Charm to scare off the Dementors. Harry is about to take Umbridge down when she grabs hold of him. Firenze arrives just in time to save him and fights an epic battle with Umbridge, which ends with Firenze falling in love with Umbridge's brute incredible strength and taking her as a mate to save the dying race of centaurs.

Harry, Lupin, and the others provide evidence to clear Sirius' name. The rest of the people at Hogwarts decide to have a huge party to celebrate (Hermione Can't Draw (Reprise)). Harry visits Dumbledore and the two discuss that their days away from Hogwarts are what make the time they have there so precious. Harry and the others all say goodbye for the summer, knowing that there will always be a way back. (Days of Summer"/"Goin' Back to Hogwarts).

A Very Potter Senior Year[]

Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom wander the Department of Mysteries, chased by Death Eaters (This Is The End). Harry appears and rescues the group, aided by Kingsley Shacklebolt and the Wizard Cops. Mad-Eye Moody enters the scene, who Harry reveals to be the Death Eater Barty Crouch Jr. in disguise. Crouch is apprehended by the Wizard Cops, but leaves Harry with the ominous message that, with Voldemort defeated, Harry's importance to the wizarding world will fade.

Later at the Burrow, Harry presents his girlfriend, Ginny, with Riddle's diary, not knowing its powers. Ron complains to Harry that Hermione has become obsessed with the writings of Gilderoy Lockhart, and that the two have not kissed since the events of A Very Potter Musical. At the breakfast table, Ron is given the keys to the family car, and he flies Harry, Hermione, and Ginny to Hogwarts to start the school year (Senior Year). Ron crash lands into the Herbology greenhouse. Professor McGonagall enters and threatens to expel the students, however, Draco Malfoy provides an alibi framing Dora the Explorer and the four students escape punishment. Despite this, Harry refuses to acknowledge Draco's friendship.

In the Great Hall, Harry and Draco are announced as the two candidates for the coming Head Boy election. Gilderoy Lockhart is announced to be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Lockhart quickly proves more popular than even Harry, who in turn tries unsuccessfully to maintain his position as favorite among the student body. Harry consequently ends his relationship with Ginny, who turns to the diary for comfort.

Hermione waits in line to receive an autograph from Lockhart, who tasks her with writing Harry's biography. Draco and Harry begin their preparations for the coming Head Boy election when Harry suddenly overhears the Basilisk. Just then, a scream is heard, and the group discovers Colin Creevey and an entranced Ginny in front of a message written in blood. The message declares that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened, and Harry sees the dangerous situation as an opportunity to regain his popularity among the students.

Harry takes Cho as his date to Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday Party. The date does not go well, and Harry is jealous to see Ginny accompanied by Seamus and Dean. After Ginny leaves, Harry confronts Dean to which Dean points out that Ginny isn't his girlfriend or his property. Seamus, Cho and Dean all announce their newfound hatred of Harry whilst Ron is forced to convince Lavender that he wants to break up. Draco arrives and puts roller skates and marbles on the floor causing Harry to destroy McGonagall's ice sculpture.

After the party, Hermione arrives and gets into an argument with Ron and Harry. Harry overhears the Basilisk a second time. Together with Hermione and Ron, he finds a petrified Nearly Headless Nick and an entranced Ginny, who again flees the scene upon regaining full consciousness. The trio follow a trail of spiders to the Forbidden Forest, where they encounter Aragog (Get In My Mouth). Aragog tries to eat the three friends, but Hagrid appears to rescue them.

Harry and Draco tie in the elections for Head Boy after most of the student body cast votes for Fozzie Bear. Lockhart proposes a wizard duel to settle the tie, and Draco intends to forfeit because he regards Harry as a friend. Not knowing this, Harry insults Draco and says they aren't friends and unknowingly goads him into fighting as well as regarding Harry now as an enemy. (Tonight This School Is Mine). Draco uses his Serpensortia spell to conjure a snake, and Harry consequently reveals his Parseltongue ability before the entire school. This event makes Harry the principal suspect as Slytherin's heir, a view supported by Lockhart, who taunts Harry into forfeiting.

Harry laments his downfall while Ginny reads of Riddle's remorse (When I Was......). Harry decides to leave Hogwarts, and Riddle finally reveals himself to be Lord Voldemort before Ginny.

At Godric's Hollow, Harry arrives. Ron arrives via the Weasley family car but fails to convince Harry to return to Hogwarts. Harry finds the Resurrection Stone inside his lucky Snitch, and the ghosts of his deceased family and friends appear to give him encouragement (Everything Ends). Harry and Ron return to Hogwarts and, together with the student body, the Sorting Hat, and the Scarf of Sexual Preference, set out to slay the Basilisk.

Inside the Chamber, Harry and the students are overpowered by the Basilisk, under the control of the still disembodied Voldemort. Harry succeeds in pulling the sword of Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat and slays the Basilisk, but is bitten in the process. As Voldemort stands over a dying Harry, Harry stabs the diary with the sword, killing the fragment of Voldemort's soul and saving Ginny. Hagrid arrives with Fawkes, whose healing tears rescue Harry from near death.

Harry finally accepts Draco as his friend. Harry later proposes to Ginny who accepts and the students rejoice. Later, as Harry is taking in all the times he had at Hogwarts, Ron arrives to pick him up for the last time. Harry says goodbye to Hogwarts and leaves with Ron.

19 years later, Harry takes his son to platform 9¾, where he runs into Quirrell, but fails to recognize him as his enemy from A Very Potter Musical. Voldemort has come to terms with his defeat, and says that Harry has taught him how to love and that it is okay to let go of things, even if it hurts.
